At art college back in the mid 1960s Mike Booth was exploring all sorts of different ways to create movement in Art.

At the Royal College of Art he developed ways in which the spectator could become the motivating factor. He exhibited electronic musical boxes that responded to how they were manipulated, and, working with textile designer Claire Boyd, a range of musical clothes, that responded to the movement of the wearer (inhibiting for the average member of the public – but professional dancers loved them!).

In the years that followed he produced illuminated paintings of urban landscapes that used computer programmed lighting to progress the images through a 24 hour day and night cycle.

The current project uses Solar Power to transform a two dimensional image. These pictures have been designed as a domestic product, and are available to purchase from the web site www.suntraps.net where eight examples can be seen.
